When I showed you the
pallet ideas yesterday, I also promised you that I would show you what I have used my pallets for. So without further introduction - meet our new headboard!
I´m actually quite pleased with the result, but I´m not sure if I should paint them or not. What do you think? I´m thinking either black or white. I kind of like this natural color as well....
So what do you think? You can see more photos of our bedroom on
Stylizimo.com.
Wish you all a wonderful day! Here in Oslo it's snowing A LOT at the moment, so it seems that we have to wait a bit longer for spring.

Kjempeflott!☺
Snøa her og :(
Ha ein herleg dag☺
Klem M♥
Oh I love it as is! Don't change a thing. ;-)
ReplyDeleteIkke mal dem!!!
ReplyDeleteNydelig soverom!!!
Nydelig blogg, jeg er en ivrig følger ;)
Velkommen inn til meg også :)
Hilsen Alexandra
Kult med paller! :D
ReplyDeleteKram
Helena
I am absolutely sure that my son would love this idea.
ReplyDeleteI could very well imagine an open house, which has elements of Euro pallets and bung wood. That in combination with concrete floors and large windows...
Big hugs
Tine
Herlig ♥ !
ReplyDeleteWOW, underbart! Tack för all inspiration! :)
ReplyDeleteKram Lotta
Superstilig!
ReplyDeleteTakk for fiiine tilbakemeldinger! <3
I love it like that! I think painting it would give a whole different look that would lose the beauty of the palette.
ReplyDeleteGo, Nina, Go!
Sarahx
Klem Anki
Nyyyydelig! Liker den fargen den har nå jeg :0)
ReplyDeleteKlem klem
Hei! :)
ReplyDeleteI love it! Everything looks great. I love the idea for your jewelry!

ReplyDeletePlease! Please! Paaaaaaallllleze do not paint the pallets. It's absolutely stunning in it's natural state! Paint will totally transform the aesthetic & it may not appear as beautiful as it already is. You stated, "I´m actually quite pleased with the result" -- which is a strong indication that you need NOT tamper with this masterpiece lol.

Hi Nina! I love the natural colour of the pallette and, if it would be up to me, I will leave them exactly as it is!
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Mara
I love it, Nina. Looks great on the photo in the natural colour. I think I wouldn´t paint it.
ReplyDeleteXX, Nadine
Wow så tøft og originalt!! Kjempeherlig kontrast til nattbordet og tekstilene!
ReplyDeleteHa en fin dag!
Klem fra Kristin
Oh Nina, it looks stunning. But I couldn´t decide what colour to choose. I love this natural look, but white or black would be wonderful, too. please show us, if you may change it....
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely snowy day and enjoy the "cleanness" of these snow. It maybe the last one for this winter...
Hugs,
Sabine
ohhh please.. don't paint please....
ReplyDeleteit looks great...

This serves my purposes, thank you for the help.
ReplyDeleteNicole
Great post:)
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day...
I would leave them as is. They're gorgeous. Don't paint the headboard! (brilliant idea, by the way!)
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your feedback - it seems that everyone wants me to keep the nature color so I will for now :)
xoxo, Nina
Kult + superenkelt + gratis = kinderegg!
*sukk*
Ha en fiiin kveld, du gode!
Klem,
Anette Willemine
Omigosh! I love what you've done with the pallet. It looks perfect as your headboard...already loving the color, so I don't know if it needs to be painted. You should probably leave it alone for now and paint it when you get tired of it.
ReplyDelete-marie
Kjempekult!
ReplyDeleteHello Nina,
ReplyDeleteI think the palets are absolutely perfect! Don´t change them...the colors,structure...is lovely!!
Bye Vlaďka
Wow.. great idea!
ReplyDeleteHva kan man si....? Annet enn WOW!!!
ReplyDeleteKristine :)
Kjempe-stilig! Synes denne finishen var perfekt!!

Definitely leave it as is! Looks gorgeous!!!!
ReplyDeleteUTrolig stilig Nina!!!!
I K K E mal! De er fantastiske som de er! =)
ReplyDeleteI like it.. and if you think it should be lighter .. read my guestpost at Sarah's Beachcottage from some time ago.. I waxt the wood of that table and did the same with other wood ;) http://www.abeachcottage.com/2010/05/a-visitor-from-far-away-lands-comes-to-stay-at-the-beach-cottage.html
ReplyDeleteYou are really creative! Looks fantastic! Perfect use of pallets plus it goes well with all your house look.
Tusen takk for hyggelig kommentar <3
ReplyDeleteThanks to all of you - you are such sweethearts!
xoxo, Nina
Nice headboard!!!! I love the idea. The natural color looks good. I would go with natural and I feel that it looks more 'you'.
ReplyDeleteThis is a fabulous idea!
ReplyDeleteI love this! I think I may have just found my new headboard
ReplyDeleteI agree..don't change a thing. It is beautiful.
ReplyDeletei'm flippin' mad about these pallets as a headboard. happy to hear you are leaving them....as is. so lovely and charming. rustic and masculine in a room that has some feminine charm. so good. looking for my hammer. ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your feedback all <3
ReplyDeleteI am so smitten with this!! I've been looking for a place to use pallets for a while now. I'd LOVE to know how you did this so that I could duplicate it.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I like it just like it is without paint.

Thank you Amanda! There is no how to - they are as they are :) I just washed them and putted them behind the bed.
ReplyDeleteI love it how it is! The neutral tones look so nice against the white of the bed.

Wow that is a very interesting idea! I think I like it! I've been thinking about what to do for a headboard (and a bedframe). Maybe I'll try something like this.
ReplyDeleteI love how the room is styled and the headboard just adds to it! If you don't mind my asking, where did you get the bedside lamp? I'd love to use it on my piano...
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of repurposing pallets. I'll be posting this on my blog soon along with other ideas for reusing pallets.
ReplyDeletewhat a fantastic idea!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE anything rustic, especially raw wood: crates, pallettes, etc! The hubby and I don't have a headboard at the moment and I think this would be the perfect way to tie the room together! Thanks for your awesome ideas and I love your blog.
ReplyDeleteHey, can you tell me how you did this pleeeeeease??? I am in love!
ReplyDeleteI am curious how you have liked having the pallets behind your bed now that it has been a few months- My worry is that the splinters would start to wreck your pillows and top of the sheets...
ReplyDeleteHello Melissa! I haven´t had any problems since I added the pallets. No damage on either pillows or sheets, so I have to say that I´m happy with the headboard :)
ReplyDeleteAnonymous: Well....I did´t do much. I just placed two worn pallets (I washed them in the shower!) behind the bed. Very easy :)
-Nina
Wow! I can't believe how beautiful your pallets are without doing anything to them but washing!
ReplyDeleteThe ones sitting in my garage have random nails coming out in all directions, broken pieces of wood and paint. I'll have to do some work on mine!
Thanks so much for this post - its my inspiration!
I would absolutely love to duplicate this but am concerned about the cleanliness of the pallet. Did you treat the pallet before putting it in your room? Did you have any of the same concerns? Thank you!
Takk for tips!
ReplyDeleteKlem Tonje
Most pallets found are treated with chemicals with formaldehyde and other toxic chemicals. Please look to see if yours was stamped as untreated or reconsider this pallet as your headboard.
ReplyDeleteI've always loved the ideas of using palettes, I'm still a bit freaked out by the bugs and splinters though. How do you make sure that there are no freaky insects hiding inside it?
ReplyDeletei think black would be the best, as most of the color in that room is white, so coloring the pallet black would make wonders.
ReplyDeleteWow I had a very similar idea but I stained my pallets. I'm just trying to figure out how to hang them or attach them to my frame. Ideas?
ReplyDeleteI've been obsessed with repurposing shipping pallets for some time. I'm always amazed to see what other people come up with and how easy the ideas are to implement. I'm even more impressed with the incredible style accomplished from an item that potentially would have been destroyed or scraped. The right colors and accessories make that pallet and room look casually sophisticated and classy! Well done.
ReplyDeleteI love the natural color.
ReplyDeleteYou're lucky as the pallets that I've found don't have that grey natural tones. Usually, they are more yellow. So they'll definitely need white paint. But not yours I think.
Love this palette!!
ReplyDeleteI love it! Made a coffee table out of a palette last summer :)
ReplyDeleteI love the natural look! Excellent way to reuse a pallet!
ReplyDeleteLove it! How did you attach it to the wall?
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteThese headboards are awesome. I also found wide range of new headboards on cheap prices at http://www.dreambedroom.co.uk/compare_headboards.html
Love the idea! Where did you find your pallet? I'm not too keen on buying one off of industrial companies. I wonder if we can buy brand new ones from somewhere?
ReplyDeleteok, bello al naturale.
ReplyDeletevery nice! i wont do this...but i'm a question: that, can i use all the pallets? because i'm a pallet that there is write "italc 27 m"...it'chimically?or term?
ReplyDeleteHow did you make this? Did you just attach it to the bed or did you attach it to the wall?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Oh wow love this, we end up with so many of these had been trying to think of things to do with them as the boys usually just end up burning them and thought it was such a waste!!!! can't say I would have thought of this but I love the look
ReplyDeleteAnge Jarman :)

Hey, is that an oak hardwood floor? I'm thinking of doing a few renovations in our house and changing the flooring included. I want something like that.
ReplyDeleteI'm obsessed with gray wood stain lately and think that would look gorgeous with your color scheme, but, like the others, I love the natural look, too!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great bedroom inspiration. It was just as great that I found your blog for home ideas because we purchased a new property and I'm really excited on designing our new home.
ReplyDeleteNice job. Great design . Will come to visit again.
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to do a palette board shelf, but this headboard looks really good!
