{ Domestic Stories... }

A little while ago I ordered some beautiful  photos from Iro's Etsy shop. I have been following her blog Domestic Stories and on Flickr for a long time, and I'm totally in love with her work. She not only seems like the sweetest person, but she creates the most wonderful things. Iro has an eye for beauty in everyday life and she creates fine art photography prints and cards of her photographs. She even makes cute origami boat garlands that matches the photos. I'm amazed by how she puts her heart into everything that she does...

I have never seen something so beautifully done when I received my package from Iro today. There are no words so I had to take some pictures before I opened it all. Not only did she wrapped everything beautifully, she gave me some lovely presents as well. I'm honored and overwhelmed by her kindness and I'm amazed by how beautiful everything looks..

I look forward to find some nice frames and hang these lovely photos on my walls. Lucky me also got a adorable origami boat garland, a matching notebook for my thoughts and even a small memory game - how sweet!

I recommend you all to take a look at her beautiful work on Etsy and Flickr, and be sure to visit her blog "Domestic Stories" - it's lovable.

Iro is a pretty Greek girl who is living in Germany. She is an interior design consultant, a stylist, a photographer and a freelance writer & blogger.

Thank you so much, Iro - I love your work & I love your kindness.

xo,
Nina

{ Press breakfast - Loving.no }

Loving.no is a new online store with products from By Nord, Lovisa Burfitt and Loopie Love. Cecilie and I were invited to their press breakfast so we could to see their lovely products, meet the owners and eat cupcakes and macarons for breakfast ( I think I could do this everyday... *smile* )

Feathers is a big trend this Autumn, and why not have them on your pillows?

Lots of cupcakes and macarons - just what we girls want for breakfast!

The man on the pillow is definitely a must - imagine how nice it would be to have this man in your sofa?
And while we are snuggling with this man we can enjoy the look of By Nord´s Christmas decorations. They have made lovely silver pinecones and small animals for our tree this year.

Lovisa Burfitt is a Swedish illustrator living in Paris. She has for many years produced paintings, posters and her own clothing line "Burfitt". Over the past few years she has also made several illustrations for H & M, and I think her illustrations would fit perfect on my wall - they are fabulous!
Read more about her on www.burfitt.com

Me in action, and some lovely jewellery from Loopie Love.

If you like what you see, you can visit Loving.no

Thank you for the invite, and thank you Cecilie for a perfect day!

{ More from the Trade Fair... }

It´s nice to read that so many of you liked House Doctor as much as I did. After reading other blogs, it seems like they were a favorite among many.

But there were a lot of others that had lovely collections as well, and here I will give you a little peek from some of them.... ( not everybody allowed us to take pictures unfortunately )

I guess our Christmas tree is suppose to look dead this year? *smile*

I hope you see something that you like.
Have a beautiful Saturday!

{ Gift & Interior Trade Fair 2011 }

Hello Friday and hello to you my friends! How are you? Are you curious on the news for Autumn/Winter 2011? Well, I took a lot of photos at the Gift & Interior Trade Fair yesterday, and I thought I would start showing you the House Doctor collection, which was one of my favorites.

The colors are gentle and harmonious. The materials are raw and natural... The lamps, the furniture, their decór..... everything is perfect! You have probably seen some of this before in their Spring/Summer collection, but they have some great news for this Autumn/Winter that we can be excited about.

Something completely new in their range of products, are the five photographic pieces of art by photographer Karna Maffait. These will definitely add a very expressive mood to the modern home. Remember I showed them to you yesterday? Oh, my! They looked even better in real life - I LOVE THEM, and I WANT THEM!

 One of each, please!

Isn´t this lamp just the coolest? Imagine a concrete wall, this lamp and the chest of drawers that you see in photo above - Industrial perfection!

What do you think about their new collection?
You will find it in stores (at least here in Europe) soon.

I´ll show you some more pictures from the Fair throughout this weekend - so stay tuned.

Wishing you the best Friday and weekend.

xo,
Nina

{ Green Gate A/W 2011 - Nordic Warmth }

It may seem like I don´t like colors since everything in our home is white and grey at the moment, but I actually DO love colors. A brand I fall for every time I see is Green Gate. They really know how to make sweet & cosy color combinations and wonderful patterns, and their latest collection is a good example of this...

I think I might have to buy some more of their lovely coffee cups. The ones above in plum is lovely.. And how cute isn´t that flowery apron? Yes, please!

You can view their whole Autumn/Winter 2011/12 catalogue here if you like what you see.
What do YOU think of their colors and patterns?

Have a cosy day!

xo,
Nina

{ Kitchen storage }

Since I´m planning on having only shelves above the kitchen counter, I´ve gathered most of my dinnerware etc. in a glass door cabinet in my kitchen, to see if I have enough room for it all. I like the idea of displaying everything, since it´s actually a lot of beautiful design and patterns, although most of it is white...

The cabinet comes from Home&Cottage and is completely white. To make a little contrast and add some "color" I replaced the white with black knobs. It actually made the cabinet a lot nicer... Maybe a tips for YOUR cabinet?

Anyway, I think a cabinet like this is a great way to be organized in the kitchen and get a good overview over what you have...

Have a HAPPY and exciting day!

{ Bathroom decoration }

The bathroom is a room I rarely blog about, so today I thought I could show you some pictures how our bathroom looks like in our "new" house. The room is renovated in 2005 so I guess we won´t make any changes for a while, even though there are a few things I would like to have done differently... { There always is, isn´t there? smile }

An olive tree by the shower does wonders to liven up this otherwise white/grey room. On the sink I have some straw in a little vase together with some cloths that are rolled up. I also have a scented candle by Durance to get the feeling of beeing in a SPA {smile}.

When it comes to soap and lotion my favorites right now are "Savon Liquide" and "Extra pur olive lavande" from Compagnie de Provence. Do you have any favorites?

I hope these few simple decoration ideas gave you some inspiration to liven up your bathroom. Having a cosy and welcoming bathroom does wonders when you struggle to get out of bed in the morning {smile}.

{ Before & After - Terrace }

Our terrace floor was brown and very worn, and it needed a makeover. So between all the rain this summer I stained the floor light grey (three coats) to make a natural transition between the living room and the terrace. The light grey fits much better with our grey house, and also it is much nicer to stay out there now that it´s so bright and clean.

 This is how it looks like NOW.

This is how it looked like BEFORE I stained the floor.

The floor was actually much worse than you can see in this picture . I´m very happy with our "new" light grey floor. Quite a change right?

May you have a joyful day!

{ Butterfly prints - Hagedornhagen }

A lot of you have asked me where I have bought the butterfly prints that we have in our living room, and I am happy to inform you all that you can find them on "hagedornhagen". Hagedornhagen has been founded by the two photographers Mads Hagedorn-Olsen and Anders Morell Hagen. They have a passion for creeps and tiny winged creatures and for this reason they have collected, prepared and photographed selected types of beetles and butterflies and created a series of artprints of very high quality.

Each artprint has been produced in a limited edition of 2000 copies. They photograph the insects with a High End camera, which reproduces the colours and details of the motive most convincingly, and they spent a lot of care on printing techniques and choice of paper. A hagedornhagen artprint is, in short, a product that has been carefully prepared and carried through down to the minutest details.

So if you are interested in having butterflies or other types of insects on your wall,  you should check out their website.
