Get rid of the decorative tiles or not?

One of the rooms in our house that I´m not very happy with is our bathroom. I love its size but the walls with the decorative border really bothers me. What I can´t decide on are whether if I should paint the whole wall (it´s fake tiles, so it´s a flat wall), or if I should only paint the decorative border in light grey to match to floor so it doesn´t stand out so much...

I would be happy for any suggestions. Any ideas?

  4. Tror jeg ville malt tre "flisrekker" midt på, for å fjerne den borden. Mørkegrått blir nok fint =)

  5. I understand what you mean about the decorative border. I love the idea it will be greyish - or maybe a bit taupe. Think it'll be beautiful!

  7. Jeg er heller ikke fan av slike dekorstriper, de får meg til å tenke på 90-tallet :) Men sånn rent utenom det så har du jo et fint bad! Er det mulig å male fliser mon tro?

  9. I understand you. I am not a fan of those decorative borders either and wonder who invented this...? What about giving them a layer of composition silver. Give them an elegant touch, matches the floor and is (if in doubt) easily removed. Happy Tuedsay *Gluexkind*

  10. Are you planning to paint the fake tiles or take them down before you paint. If you paint the tiles, you will also paint the grout, the grout in the floor is white. You would have a grey floor with white grout and a grey wall with grey grout. Maybe something to consider before you start. The same goes if you only paint the strip.

    I would leave everything as it is. Just love you light bathroom.

  12. Om du maler borden, kan du bruke hvit/lysegrå fugepenn etterpå -
    så slipper du at fugene får samme farge som flisene :)

  13. Hmmm, var kanskje litt lite din stil den borden ja. Ingen tips til deg da men maling høres jo ut som en god idé.

  15. just start with the border in a good grey and if you still do not like it go for a dramatic effect like totally black! did you see the shower on my blog today , designed by paola??

  16. I would personally paint just the decorative tiles and if you do that, please write a post about the paint operation. I would like to paint our whole bathroom (because it would be much cheaper than putting on new tiles) to our light blue bathroom (YAK!) but everybody keeps saying that no paint will last in the toilet (we have a shower and a sauna in the same room) :/

  20. Jeg ville ha malt hele veggen ensfarget.
    Gjerne hvit, i samme farge som fugemassen på gulvet eller i en lekker lys gråfarge som matcher både gulv, interiør og lister.

    Jeg ville ikke ha malt bare borden.
