New bathroom for $100!

First I would like to thank you all for your suggestions on what we should do with our bathroom. It gave me plenty of inspiration that lead to the new look that I am showing you here today.

Saturday I bought a bucket of paint, found my painting brush and got ready to give our bathroom the makeover I have been longing to do. As you know, what really troubled me with the bathroom was the decorative border, so in order to remove that and also make the change stand out a little I decided to paint two tiles in addition to the the decorative border. The paint I used looks like concrete, and I have to say that it did the job of renovating our bathroom perfectly!
Now we have a "new" bathroom that we are very happy with, only using approx. $100 on paint, brush and masking tape, and 2 hours of painting - not bad at all *smile*

For those who are wondering I used a lime paint from Pure&Original called Earth Stone.
What do you think of the result? You can see more photos of the bathroom makeover here.

PS! I recommend to use Pure&Original´s sealer if there is risk of water spill..

Summer Bliss

Being able to sit outside eating in the garden when the sun shines through the trees, sitting barefoot and feel the grass between your toes, plus having good friends at the table, is true summer bliss...

Yesterday we had sweet Anne Grete and her husband over for a barbecue and we had a great time in our garden. Here are some of the photos I took of the table setting. You can see more here.

Today I´ll meet another good blog friend of mine.... Melissa behind Ideas to Steal are celebrating her birthday, and I am invited - lucky me!
The weather is perfect, so it´s time to put on a dress and enjoy every minute of it! Follow my daily moments on Instagram "stylizimoblog" if you want.

Have a wonderful day, my dear readers!

Outside working space

Since we have an awning over our terrace, it´s almost like an extra room in the summer even if it rains. As long as it's warm, it's nice to sit out here working on the couch.

So what do you think of my "new" home office? *smile*
I have uploaded new photos of our terrace here, if you´d like to see more...

Living room details

Nothing much going on in our living room at the moment. It´s still black and white, and I´m still very happy with that look. A few details that stands out here and there give the room a more interesting look, the sequin pillow for example is one of my faves at the moment.

When I´m not using the pillow outside, I´m using it in our couch to soften up all the black and white. It adds a bit glam and warmth to the room, don´t you think?

Fresh flowers softens it up as well, and together with my print from "Hazy Dolls" it´s a cute little still life on the shelf above our couch. Easily changeable when I´m tired of it - that´s the way I like it.

The Museum of Decorative Arts and Design

On Saturday we went to The Museum of Decorative Arts and Design in Oslo. I haven´t been there in ages, and my interest in design has evolved pretty much since I was there last time, so it was very fun to have a look again.

Here you see "Scandinavian Design from 1945-55". Do you see anything familiar?

In 2nd floor they have a permanent exhibition called Design and Crafts 1905–2005, and you can see and read about the different eras. It´s very interesting to learn more about its history.

There where a lot of familiar design icons to see, and one of them was the well known Panton Chair by Verner Panton. The chair is as cool now as it was in 1960 when it was designed, and that´s pretty amazing!

Have you been at The Museum of Decorative Arts and Design before?

Get rid of the decorative tiles or not?

One of the rooms in our house that I´m not very happy with is our bathroom. I love its size but the walls with the decorative border really bothers me. What I can´t decide on are whether if I should paint the whole wall (it´s fake tiles, so it´s a flat wall), or if I should only paint the decorative border in light grey to match to floor so it doesn´t stand out so much...

Here are some close up photos of our bathroom, but you can see more pictures of our bathroom here.
I would be happy for any suggestions. Any ideas?

Shopping: House of Oslo

One of my favorite places to shop things for my home is at House of Oslo. Here I can find a various range of interior shops ++ under one roof.
Somethimes I come there to find inspiration and to be updated on the latest trends, and that was exactly what I did on Friday...

On House of Oslo you´ll find stores like Illums Bolighus, Habitat, Raun, Designtorget, Milla Boutique and Åhlens - a lot of temptations in other words *smile*.

Love these colorful pillows from HAY at Illums Bolighus. Do you?

More happy colors at Åhlens and HAY (Illums Møbler)
Have any of you tried HAY´s bed linen btw? It looks gorgeous!

Highest up on my wishlist right now is a blanket like this in black from Pia Wallèn. Does anyone know where to find one in black btw? It seems like they only have grey and orange at Illums. Please let me know if you do.

Are you often at House of Oslo? (probably not if you don´t live in Norway but...*smile*)
Any favorite stores in this shopping center?

Colorful table setting

I  suddenly have a thing for color! Maybe it´s because of the bad weather we are having at the moment or that I´m in need of a change... Anyway, these new colorfol napkins with delightful colors are my latest crush! They add a summer feeling to our dinner table. On the menu: Burgers with aioli!

Tips: more interesting with contrasts!

I have already showed you some pictures from my new black painted wall in my office, but the first wall I painted black was this one in our living room/dining area. The dark color gave the room much more depth and the room actually feels larger in a strange way... I was afraid black would take to much light from the room, but I didn´t felt any big difference. It´s probably because we have white on all the other surfaces + a lot of windows with no curtains (With other words - a lot of light in the room *smile*).

Our living room is now much more interesting and elegant with this big contrast, and all the white just pop out and stand out more than before.

Do you like the dramatic look? Would this be something you would consider in your home?

On a rainy Saturday..

Baking chocolate cookies on a rainy day makes the day more enjoyable. The smell of warm cookies spreading all over the house is joy in itself..

In the Stylizimo house it´s now time for a cappuccino and some newly baked cookies, before I get busy designing new exciting features on Stylizimo.com You have a lot to look forward to! *smile*

Wish you all a great Saturday - rainy or not!

3 tips for a cosy evening in the garden!

Yesterday we had a beautiful summer day, and I spent a lot of hours sitting in our garden. If you have been following me on Instagram (stylizimoblog) you have already seen our table under the cherry tree at daytime, but today I want to share how I easily created a cosy atmosphere in our garden so it´s enjoyable in the evening as well.

1. Fresh flowers adds freshness and colors to your outdoor area.
2. Pillows and throws makes it comfy and keeps you warm in the evening..

2. By hanging lots of lanterns in a tree create an instant cosy feeling. It´s even more effective if you have colored ones..

Enjoy! Happy weekend <3

An effective morning!

Puh, what a morning! You have no idea how effective I´ve been these last few hours... Let me give you an idea; I started the day with a work out, then we got rid of all the garden disposal that have been laying behind the garage for weeks. After that, I have folded clothes, washed all the windows, and the whole house(!) I have even been doing a little redecorating and photographing. An the time is only 12:30 - unbelievable!

Here is a peek of one of our black walls. Can you guess which room?

Anyway, I´m soon on my bike and on my way to the flower shop to buy some fresh flowers as well. I´m expecting an editor for an interview here tomorrow, and I want everything to look nice and clean *smile*.

( Not bad that I actually had time to make a blogpost this morning as well...lol )
Wish you all a fantastic day!
