Hello everybody! How was your weekend? I hope it was great!
Let´s begin this week with something really beautiful, shall we? As you all probably know by now is that I love table setting, and a tableware that would be wonderful to use in a table setting is a collection that caught my eye on the Gift & Interior Design Trade Fair on Thursday: wik & walsøe´s tableware "Lys".

"Lys" ("light") is inspired by sparkling snow crystals that spread like magic dust on clear winter days, as well as winter nights when the sun and the moon are reflected in the snow. Is it possible not to love this tableware after knowing what the design is inspired by? I am definitely in love!

Trends Spring/Summer 2012!

It´s always exciting to hear what the new trends are, and if we shall believe what they say at the Norwegian Gift & Interior Design Trade Fair this year, there are these four looks that we can expect too see in stores soon...

Summer Twilight: We look back to the 1970s, but it is an industrial and minimalist style. The dark colors convey a tighter and more stylish look. The trend builds a bridge and look back on the familiar and safe, but have also added new colors and innovation.

Summer twilight has a color scale that is based in the twilight. It contains rich and deep colors. Colors taken from nature and the mineral world: Turquoise, dark teal, lagoon blue, dark purple, ruby red, neutral colors like brown cork, sand, putty and olive green.

We will see materials like leather, suede leather, embossed leather, various types of wood, untreated wood, faux wood, bark, rope, hemp, ceramics with a watery patina, brown cardboard carton, shiny surfaces, raw concrete

Precious Past : This summer's feminine and romantic aspects are reflected in the theme of Precious Past. Love of tradition, old heirlooms and vintage combined with contemporary interpretations of flowers and gems. The theme borrows from the traditions and expressions gives it a renewed value.

This trend combines several powder pink colors with light green hues, beige, vanilla, crème, pastel purple, dark purple, raspberry.

The materials here is crocheted, embroidered, plaited fabrics or brocade, damask, jacquard, gemstones. Applications in fabric or paper, lace, silk, velvet, red demin, and you will see patterns like flower design, distressed vintage look, patchwork, embroidery and lace.

New Puzzle represents a break with the traditional and safe, and celebrate progress and innovation. New Puzzle is an electric mix of surfaces and materials, between graphic and organic forms, which are puzzled together in surprising ways.

The color scale challenges the eye with new and uneven color with its settings. The scale is composed with both strong and delicate colors as well as black and white. It represents both strong contrasts and perfect harmonies. Exciting colors like fiery orange, dust blue, cool purple, neutral powder and pastel colors and a matte green.

Materials: Concrete, plastic, wood .... an electric mix of surfaces and materials.

New Frequency: The theme is based on an explosive color scale. Stripes in the separation variation is an effective way to show courage and renewal. The colorful theme reflects the fascination of innovative materials, "smart" fabrics. Digital-inspired print and new technological possibilities, such as 3D printing technology.

You will see strong, clean colors as classic green, turquoise, rouge red, flaming orange. Yellow and clear iris purple are complemented as subdued opposites. The color scale is composed in this way to emphasize the color combinations to the theme that often consists of both strong and delicate nuances.

There is room for lots of patterns in New Frequency - and it's not just stripes! There will be colorful patterns inspired by the digital universe, digital inspiration from the computer world.

In other words, it seems like there will something for everyone..*smile*

Which one of these four styles do YOU like the most? My favorite is the "New Puzzle", but I do like elements from all of them.

Jenny Lane Design - Cupid´s Choice?

Yesterday I spent almost all day at the Norwegian Gift & Interior Design Trade Fair to see what we can expect in the upcoming season. I took a lot of pictures so I will share some of my favorites in the days to come... First out is the talented Jenny Lane, and her joyful mailboxes.

Jenny Lane´s wish is to give an extra dose of inspiration and joy into everyday life through her design mailboxes. What a cute idea!

She also makes heart shaped mailboxes stands, which she calls: "Love on a Stick" and "Lollipop".

It was love at first sight when I passed this young lady's exhibition yesterday. Aren´t these mailboxes the cutest?

I wanted to try something else when I sat the table for my lunch guest today, so the theme today was natural hues. No colorful flowers, no candles, just the simplicity of nature...

I actually think it turned out quite nice. I hope my guest will like it too...

Kitchen corner

I don´t show you much of my kitchen do I? Well, it´s probably because I don´t like it that much and I´m dreaming of a new one. I do like some of it though, for example this corner beside the stove. White, black and natural hues is my favorite color combination at the moment... They work so well together I think, and it actually goes well with our brown kitchen as well.

What kind of color tones do have in your kitchen at the moment?

Bedroom in white and grey

I´m very tired today, so why not share some pictures of our bedroom since I´m dreaming of my bed. Please don´t pay attention to our wrinkled linen though. I'm not really the person that irons a lot I'm afraid... *smile*

I like to keep it simple and calm in our bedroom, and the grey color called "Sober" gives me the calmness that I need. I do love my ladder with my finest shoes on though - it keeps me organized as well as it brings a bit more personality to the room.

Interior Pastel - Home of Colors

If you are looking for a webshop with a Moroccan twist, you should check out "Interior Pastel"! Most of their collection is from Morocco, but they also sell products from Norway, India, Italy and England - it is such a lovely collection.

Many of the products are from the manufacturer Lady Burk, and that´s because Nina Taasen run both companies. This lady sure do have a great taste.
I was actually lucky enough to meet Nina at their stand at the Lifestyle Norway Fair last weekend, and had a great time talking to her.

Interior Pastel´s vision is to color the world with happy colors and exciting designs that can complement our homes. It looks very promising....

My moodboard behind the desk is expanding every day. Every time I find something that I like or that inspires me, I add it to the wall. It´s nice to have pretty things to look at when working...

A lunch with sweet blog friends..

Having lunch with nice girls is a great way to start the new week, and today adorable Anne Grete had invited Maia, Cecilie, Marthe and me for a delicious lunch at her lovely home. On the menu was; A delicious chicken and feta pie with salad and for dessert we got cupcakes and cake pops - yummy!

I had to snap a few photos so you can get a glimpse of her delightful home, and of course the wonderful table setting - really pretty!

Notice that cool driftwood plank that she has used as decoration - very decorative, adding an interesting look to the table. Lovely!

The cakes were delicious - oh my, I wish I ate more..*smile*

Workspace / Mediaroom

We are changing all of our windows these days, and the house is a mess! There is nowhere to sit besides down in the basement in our media room, and I sat there all yesterday working. I found it quite cosy to be here during daytime as well - mostly we use it as a TV room.

Our chaise lounge sofa is one of my DIY projects - check it out here if you missed it!

And since I first was down here I had to take some photos as well. It´s usually pretty dark down here, but when there suddenly was an hour with good lighting, I snapped some pictures...

Hopefully they will be done working with the windows today, so I can get everything back to its place before the weekend. I hate having it all messy and dirty (and cold for that matter! Changing windows during the winter is not recommended... )

I love peeking into other homes and get inspiration! I´m actually very happy that I created the community Stylizimo.com so I can see how YOU have it in your home. I think it´s very inspiring to see how people decorate their home - styled by the person who lives there with its unique personality.
The best thing is that we can tag all the things in the picture with where it´s bought - that way we can copy the style if we see something we like. If it´s not tagged, why not just ask the person who owns the photo?

{ Concrete wall }

Remember the concrete wallpaper we have in one of our home offices? Well, I like it so much that I have now used it on the wall in our stairs as well. The plan was to use a black glittery wallpaper that I got from Storeys in a goodiebag a while ago, but I messed it up and ruined almost every length ( don´t ask! ). It sure was a difficult wall to put wallpaper on, but with this thick concrete wallpaper it turned out well at last...

This wallpaper is also from Storeys...

It´s not the easiest angle to take photos of though, and the light is really blue nowadays, but at least you get a peak of the wall.... It looks much better than the beige-striped one we had before - I can promise you that *smile*.

{ TV wall - Before and after }

Our living room is constantly in change, and now it is the TV bench that has been sold and replaced with a new one. I wanted a cleaner look and I think it turned out quite well. It´s not that I didn´t like the one we had, but I got tired of the look and I wanted to satisfy my everlasting hunger for change *smile*.

Notice the deer pillow? Yes, I have sewed another pillow with a "by nord" kitchen towel. A very effective start of the year, I must say *smile*! See my other DIY "by nord" pillow here, if you missed it.

I actually bought this TV bench second hand as I did with the last one, and ended up with some extra cash after all was bought and sold - that´s how I can afford changing the look all the time! :)

{ DIY: Pillow - love! }

For a long time I´ve wanted a "by nord" pillow. I really love their design, but since I constantly change pillows I can´t really afford the expensive ones. Therefore I made one myself instead using one of their kitchen towels. I have seen others done this before, and now finally I had the time to make one myself.

What do you think - do you like it? Have you made a pillow out of a kitchen towel before?
Just for the record; I only used the towel on the front side. On the back I used some white fabric that I had.

I have to show you how much flowers can do to a room! The newly bought tulips in lovely pink, sure give our living room a spring feeling. I know it only January, but it is allowed to bring some spring into the living room anyway, right?

{ From Silver to Black }

The Christmas decorations is all gone, and I´m suddenly in need of some changes. I have been thinking about painting this mirror for a long time, and last night I finally did it. Our living room is very white, and a contrast like this makes it more interesting I think.

It´s nice to start the new year with some changes. New fresh flowers is also replaced with all the dead ones after the holiday - I love the feeling of a fresh and "new" living room.

{ DIY: Print }

Hello you, and hello 2012. Happy New Year everybody! I have a feeling that this is going to be a great year, don´t you agree?
I can´t say that it started out so well though. Yesterday we spent all day stuck in the traffic from the cabin we spent our holiday, and when we finally got home it smelled sewage in the whole house. It turned out the drain was blocked and smelling water was all over the laundry floor. Fortunately, there was someone here this morning that fixed the problem so we could use the water and the toilet again... Why does this always happen when you´re away?

Anyway, I thought I would share one of the Christmas presents that I made for my fiancé. I know that he really likes these wise words from the "Apple-King" himself; Steve Jobs, so I made him a print with a cool font that I found, for him to hang in his home office.

In the meantime his gift is standing in the living room, so I can get inspired by these words as well. "Stay hungry, stay foolish" - that´s exactly what I intend to do in 2012!

{ Christmas tree }

A Christmas tree completes the Christmas decoration. It really creates a special atmosphere with its smell and by its light. A tree is exactly what I need to get in the right Christmas spirit..

It does look a lot cosier in the evening, but it´s not possible to take any good photos of it the dark..

Another thing that put me in the right spirit is Christmas movies. I have already seen "Love Actually" and "The Holiday". The other musts are "The Polar Express" and the "Home Alone I and II" movies. Do you have any favorite Christmas movies? I would love to hear who they are..

{ Table setting: Christmas }

Thank you all for your comments on my picture from the Christmas table yesterday. We had a great time, and the food was delicious. I´m still full actually. *smile*

I promised that would show you some more photos of the table setting, and here they are...

This is how it looked after I had lit all the candles - so much more cosier.

I made small place cards as well...

As you can see in the background we have bought a Christmas tree as well. It´s really lovely to have a tree in house - it smells sooooo good, and I love coming downstairs in the morning when it stands there lighting up the living room. Oh, joy!

Anyway, I hope my table setting gave you a few ideas if you need any for your Christmas table....

I love colors, but I know for a fact that I never get tired of black and white. I love the contrast between them as well - dramatic, sophisticated and stylish all at once.

Hints of fresh pink in a black and white home is definitely not wrong. *smile*

Thank you all for your enormously kind feedback on my last post - you are all such sweethearts!
We had a great time at the workshop last night, and the girls sure made some beautiful things. Me on the other hand, didn´t get much done. I can´t really concentrate on two things at the same time, so for me it was most talking... *smile*

I wish time didn't fly so fast when you´re in good company. I just love spending time with my girls... I was hoping for a Christmas movie down in our new media room as well, but there was not enough time. I guess we have to have a girls night again soon... Wanna come and join us? : ) quality time

In a few hours I will have seven adorable friends over for a Christmas workshop. I´ve made candy and cookies, and I will make some "gløgg" (mulled wine) as well so we get in the right mood for being creative. I actually haven´t decided what I will make yet, so I better think of something soon.... Maybe you have some ideas for me?

I might as well show you some pictures of my "Christmas living room" now that it´s tidy and clean. *smile* I guess not everybody understand my type of Christmas decoration; my dad stopped by for a visit earlier today, and was wondering when I would take out all the Santas and red decoration... : )

I found this home very cute and cosy, and I love the welcoming look it has. It actually shows that you can use just a few elements to get a Christmas feeling in your home. If you look closely, you will find branches in every room except the kids room... Quite decorative right?

I will actually go outside and find some branches myself. I think they are really beautiful to decorate with, and I like the part that it doesn't cost anything either..

{ Christmas wrapping }

I love wrapping Christmas gifts, and I like to wrap each and one differently so they all are unique. I think it´s nice to add a little love to the wrapping..
I´m almost done with the gifts for this year, and I have to say that nice to be a little ahead of schedule. Usually I´m wrapping the last presents on Christmas Eve. *smile*

As you can see are every gift inspired by nature - natural colors, and elements from nature.... In addition I have used some of my gold washi tape together with some twine. I have also made the cards myself, which you can view here.

This is how I wrapped last years presents.

In a Swedish house in Skåne there is a family who decorates a little bit different than most Christmas homes - Swedish Christmas with a touch of Moroccan. For me it was love at first sight.....

Isn't it fabulous? I love the mix of styles, the mix between the rough and romantic and the mix of cold and warm colors - it works perfectly and it look very cosy! I would love celebrating Christmas in this home. Would you?

{ On a silver platter... }

It's always fun to look back at last year's Christmas decorations. We didn´t have much decorations when we lived in Los Angeles, but I remember I liked this decorated silver plate very much. I might make something similar this year as well...

Do you often look back and see what kind of decorations you used last year?
I remember when I was a child, we always had the same decorations every year, and it all had its own place... I have a feeling that there will never be quite like this in my home *smile*, but it would however be nice to have some things that would be the same year after year....

So have are you all doing with your Christmas preparations btw.? Do you have everything under control?

The best thing about blogging is that you meet new friends - friends with the same interest as you. Today I had Marthe and Anne Grete over for lunch., and they are such wonderful girls. We had a great time, and there was no trouble finding things to talk about..

What is a little bit scary though, is to show your home "in real life". When people have read your blog for a while and have seen your home through photos, they may have some expectations... Things usually looks bigger and better on photos, if you know what I mean? *smile*

Above you have my living room from today..., it´s starting to get quite Christmassy now and I enjoy spending time in it. Especially when I lit the fireplace and all the candles...

{ Christmas feeling and log storage }

Here you have a peek of our living room right now... I thought I´d share my new log storage by the fireplace. I think logs are very decorative, especially now during the winter, so I wanted to display them more. By using some of my old wooden crates I sort of got the expression that I was looking for...

As you can see I have moved the little juniper tree, and I now have it beside our couch instead. It´s still alive and I enjoy it very much.. I have actually decorated it a bit as well. *smile*

Our living room is getting very Christmassy now, and I will share more pictures of it in the days to come - so stay tuned....

{ DIY: Sofa with chaise lounge }

A while back I promised you that I would show you my DIY couch down in the basement. I still need some more pillows for it, and I intend to sew some in the same fabric as the couch, but I guess you will get the idea without the pillows as well... So here we go: My DIY chaise lounge sofa....

Since it´s a wooden frame in the mattress, you can attach the legs to the frame. Same with the fabric - you just staple it to the wooden frame, underneath the mattress.. Very easy actually *smile*

So if you need an affordable sofa with chaise lounge, you should try out this DIY. There are a lot of nice furniture fabrics and legs out there to choose from, so the sky is your limit....

{ DIY: Cards }

There were some good guesses on what I was doing earlier today, and Igor and Sasha were right - I was making postcards, and cards for the Christmas presents...

I used thick watercolor paper and different types of brown paper as cards, and I decorated them by using stamps, gluing on stuff, sewed an antler ( Have you ever tried sewing on paper? It works perfectly! ) and painted cute garlands as well as using washi tape. Very fun!

"Til" og "fra" means "to" and "from" in Norwegian...

This is only the beginning though. I guess there will be many more...., and probably different ones to.
Are you going to make your own cards this year, or are you going to buy them?

Which one do you like the most of these ones btw? Maybe I could just focus on one the most popular one when I´m making the rest. *smile*

{ DIY: Share some love with the birds.. }

Let´s not forget about the birds this time of the year. Why not make them a good snack, so the birds can have a festive season as well? Share some love...

What I did was: I melted some coconut fat and let it cool down for a few minutes in cold water. Then I blended it with different kinds of birdseeds. When the fat began to get harden again, I made hearts using heart-shaped gingerbread shapes. To make a hole for the twine, I used a match ( use whatever you have that make a hole, so you can hang it up...)

It seems like the birds liked the "Christmas snack" very well, because a few hours after I hang it up it was all gone... Greedy birds! *smile*

This is probably a nice activity you can do with your children.... Just be careful with the hot coconut fat - make sure to wait until it´s cooled down before you blend in the birdseeds, otherwise it will squirt!

I have been out walking again and I always like to find something that I can bring inside and use as decoration. A few chestnuts, a branch with berries and pine cones are setting exactly the mood that I´m after this time of year.... cosiness.

Keep your eyes open and look for things you can use as decoration when you are out walking - you never know what might show up. It´s nice to save a few bucks as well, right?

Hello you and hello December! Let´s start of this festive month by peeking into sweet Anna´s Christmas home, shall we? The Swedish magazine Livet på landet recently featured the lovely home and since I have been following her blog House of Svea for a long time, I´m very pleased to see her home dressed for Christmas.

Anna´s Christmas home looks truly warm and welcoming, and I really like how she has decorated it all in white and natural colors. Notice all the flowers and the branches that is everywhere, the green is certainly adding a freshness to it all - I love it!

{ Purple advent }

Although I´m not having any traditional purple in my home this advent, certainly doesn´t mean that I don´t like it. Purple decorations this time of year bring out some good childhood memories. We always had purple during the advent... Anyway, when I saw this living room I actually think that I will go for purple next year... I can still have my white candles (as I always do), but I can bring in purple by adding some cushions and throws...

Beautiful right? I love the look of this living room! It seems so nice to have a couch in front of a fireplace like this.... especially now during the wintertime.

{ Free Christmas decoration... }

Our Sunday walk in the forest resulted in a cute little juniper tree that I have put in our living room. I think it´s a nice way to bring some Christmas spirit in the house, so I will use it as Christmas decor until the real Christmas tree enters the house.

Kind of decorative right? Let´s hope it stays alive even though it only gets water... Do you have any experience with this kind of tree?

Flowers and scented candles are always a great way to set the mood as well. Tulips and hyacinths are both lovely, and they give me a true Christmas feeling...

Are you having a tree this year btw.? If so, what kind of tree are you having?

{ First Sunday of Advent... }

The day is here; The first day of Advent! The star is now twinkling in our kitchen window, and the first candle of four is ready to get lit....

As for Advent candle holders I have used four of Kähler´s Avvento trees on a black platter together with some nuts and pine cones... Traditionally it´s supposed to be purple candles, but I went for white ones together with green trees - what color do you have on your Advent candles?

Do you have this kind of tradition in your country? What kind of preparations have you done for this first day of Advent?

I love looking at all the Christmas collections out there - you can actually get a lot of inspiration from their styled product photos. Hübsch always have a lot of lovely pictures in their inspiration file, and they don´t let us down with their wonderful Christmas collection either. Enjoy....

I´m usually the person that falls for cold colors and I do love the images above, but I have to say that the warm and cosy images underneath gives me an extra Christmas feeling...

December is sneaking upon us, and it's time to prepare an advent calendar. I haven´t had an advent calendar in many years so this year we are definitely having one! I think the one with gifts are the funniest one, so I have made us a calendar that we can hang 24 gifts on. ( 12 each of course..*smile* )

Use your imagination - use whatever you have available and use the colors you prefer.

I´m actually quite happy with the result, and I´m really looking forward to fill it up with presents!
It´s so much fun making things like this - it makes me feel like a kid again ...

Yesterday I had my dear friend Cecilie over for lunch, you might have heard of her lovely blog "Cecilies Lykke"? Well, she is really the sweetest person to be with, and we had a wonderful time talking and eating (way to much! ) "mini - pizzas" and cupcakes - OMG, I was so full afterwords. *smile*

Cecilie brought me the loveliest gift... Two black & white striped Christmas balls and a little ball with the letter N for Nina - how sweet isn´t that? As you can see from the rest of the pictures I´ve started lightly with the Christmas decorations as well adding Kähler´s Christmas trees, some flowers, pinecones and of course a lovely larch twig....

Can´t wait to get those new Christmas balls up on the tree... But I guess I have to wait a little bit longer for that *smile*

Okay, so here you have yesterdays project - a Christmas moodboard! This is very me at the moment. I will not have a colorful Christmas, but I will bring nature in to soften up all the black and white.

This moodboard gives me so much inspiration; It tells me how I will decorate for Christmas, wrap the presents, make my Christmas cards, and it actually inspires me to do some more DIY´s... The creativity just flows!

Hello everyone! How are you? I´m always in a good mood on Fridays - I just LOVE weekends, but I guess I´m not the only one who do that, right? *smile*

I have to show you this new industrial cabinet that we´ve bought for our living room. We needed more storage for our glasses etc., and I found this cabinet very suitable and likeable.

I love getting new furniture in house - having a change is nice.

So what´s your plans for this weekend? I´m going out with some lovely girls on Saturday, and am really looking forward to that. Girl nights are the best!

Little by little I sneak in a few elements of Christmas in our living room. Amaryllis and hyacinths are two of my favorite Christmas flowers, and since they both are white they work perfect now in November also..

The lovely hyacinth was a gift from sweet Lene & Bente at the Blog meetup at Hviit. Thank you again for this beautiful flower.

Oh, my! Yesterday I tried all day to get our big chaise lounge-couch down to the basement! It didn´t work. Because of the angle from the stairs into the living room we can not get any couch in there. Bummer! So what to do? My DIY head starts working. Can I make a sofa? I know I have made one before with pallets, but I don´t want a pallet sofa this time.... Hmmm, I think I have an idea, and I hope it will work out okay. I will of course share the result with you when everything is settle in our TV room..

In the meantime I though I could share some of my previous DIY´s.

{ DIY: Autumn / Christmas decoration }

Using different elements of nature can be a lovely and an inexpensive way to decorate. Since I love Christmas and almost can´t wait to start decorating, I have made myself a tray filled with things I love from nature. I think that this kind of decoration works perfectly both for Autumn and during Christmas...

Quite cosy, right? I love the new tealight holders from "Tine K Home" that I bought at Hviit at the "blog meetup" this Thursday. I tried them out yesterday, and they set the perfect mood.

The interior magazine ROM 123 gave them an award as the best interior webshop in Feb. 2011, and it´s probably because of all their unique, exciting, modern and practical items. Here you will find everything from things for your home, to cute items for your kids. Absolutely worth a visit!

I have made a collage for some of the things in Kinu´s webshop that I love.

{ New floor in the kitchen }

Okay, so the weekend wasn't as relaxing as I was hoping for. I always have a project going on and this time it was the kitchen floor...

We had a grey laminate floor that looked like tiles and I was not fond of it at all. Since the living room floor is painted white and the rooms are connected, I wanted the kitchen floor to be white as well. I could paint it as I did in our little hallway, but because of the drying time (8 hours) + 3-4 coats I would never have found time for it. We have therefore added a white vinyl coating to get the same expression as in the rest of the house.

This vinyl coating from Storeys is probably easy to lay if you have a square room (which my kitchen is not, so it wasn´t that easy). You only have to take off the skirting before you start. No glue, only a sharp knife for cutting.

We are very happy with the end result - our kitchen is now much brighter and modern, and it looks better against the living room. It´s probably not the most practical floor color in a kitchen, but who cares - pretty before practical! *smile*.

{ Decoration from nature }

I admit that I have started buying Christmas decorations already. In fear that they will get sold out I bought these cute bark reindeers and a fake antler...

Both the reindeers and the fake antler is bought at Living.

The laminate floor is now removed down in the basement, and the old concrete floor is primed and ready for the electrician to lay heating cables. This is how the floor looks underneath - kind of cool right?

Do you have any great plans for this weekend? I will actually try to relax a bit. I´ve bought some new magazines and a Christmas book that I will enjoy reading. And who knows, maybe there will be a few projects as well...

{ Industrial living room }

Today I´ll get some help from my dear cousin with the floor downstairs in our living room #2 (down in the basement). As I told you earlier I want to have a concrete floor, and that means that we have to remove the laminate floor that is already there and prime the concrete underneath before the electrician comes tomorrow and install the heat cables that we want underneath the concrete floor.

Here are some pictures I found on "Living"´s blog that I find as great inspiration for our living room #2. Industrial is the main word for how we would like to decorate the room.

I´m really excited to see how the concrete floor turns out. I have used the last few weeks on persuading my fiancé, so it better turn out well. *smile*

A big rug is a must when having a concrete floor I think. These looks great!

Hints of wood or warm colors will give the otherwise cold room a warmer feeling. I will for sure add some elements from nature.

{ What to do this year... ? }

Have you started thinking about the Christmas decorations yet? I know that it´s still early, but I was looking through some pictures from last year's Christmas, and I got really excited about decorating for Christmas in our new house....

This is a table setting I did last year in our apartment in Beverly Hills. We didn´t have that much decorations back then, since we went home for the holidays, but with an artificial pine-garland, some pinecones and snowflakes it actually felt like Christmas even when the temperature outside said "summer". *smile*

I guess I'm wondering about which colors I will decorate with this year. Right now I´m thinking some white and some silver, but mostly elements from nature. So probably something similar to this table.

{ Extra storage }

We are finally done with my fiancé´s home office, and this how we have decorated his room on the other side of where he has his desk.

We are in lack of space for our clothes, so we got him a clothing-rack so he can hang some of his clothes in his office as well. He also got a shoe cabinet for the shoes that aren't in everyday use.

New black hangers for the new wardrobe...

Above the rack it´s a couple of shelves for boxes and magazine files etc. I added a few baskets there as well, just to create a contrast against all the black, white and grey. It´s a nice way to soften it up a bit.

I have been looking for a "Corokia" for a long time, and this weekend I finally found one. This is for sure the hottest blog plant right now, at least here in Norway.... No wonder - it´s very beautiful.

Chestnuts are a very decorative in Autumn as well... I love FREE decoration.

But let´s move from concrete wallpaper over to concrete floor. We are thinking about having a concrete floor in our 2nd living room that´s down in the basement. This room will be used as a TV room (mostly a boys room), so I want it to look rough and cool, as well as I want to keep the costs low...

Concrete floors comes to mind, but we have no experience on concrete floor what so ever and therefore I have some questions for you:

1. Does any of you have any experience on laying a concrete floor?

2. Is this something we easily can do ourself?

3. Do you know if we can choose between a light or a dark look? ( I would prefer a light look on it )

4. What do we treat it with so the surface gets smooth, and that it´s easy to keep clean?

5. Is it expensive?

6. We are planning on having heating under the concrete, is this a problem?

I would really appreciate answers, so I hope some of you have done this before...

{ DIY - cute birch tags }

I promised you some pictures from the House of Oslo event yesterday, but the truth is that I met so many wonderful bloggers and we had so much to talk about, that I forgot to take pictures of it all. Well, I took a few but the quality is so bad that it´s not worth showing... I had a great time though.

Instead I have this little DIY for you, so I hope you will forgive me... *smile*

The idea came to mind when I was collecting some cut birch to our fireplace the other day and I saw all the loose bark. I know I have seen somewhere that you can buy birch tags, so instead of buying, I thought I could make my own cute tags. Because we love tags, don´t we? :)

There is no point of giving any tutorial on this DIY. You simply cut the bark in the shape you prefer. The thinner the bark, the easier to cut. Then you add a text with your DYMO or something else.

You can use a hole punch if you want a hole for some twine etc. My bark was unfortunately a little too thick for my hole punch, but a hole isn't necessary for the purpose that I´m using them for... I´ll show you tomorrow.

{ Home & Cottage - coffee table book }

Yesterday I was one of ten lucky bloggers who got invited to Home&Cottage´s launch-party at their store on Majorstuen, Oslo. The big event was a tribute to their lovely new coffee table book that you can find in all of their stores, and some bookstores in Norway.

Their book is called "Home&Cottage: Med et ben på jorden og sommerfugler i magen" and it´s filled with beautiful inspirational photos of homes and cottages decorated with their own furnitures and decorations. There are mostly pictures, but you will find a few recipes and some cute stories that will set you in the right mood for each season either you are in the city, out on the country, by the sea or up in the mountains. This is a perfect coffee table book that you can snuggle up with in your sofa, in front of your fireplace together with a hot cup of chocolate.

It´s always nice to meet fellow bloggers at events like these. Among the bloggers I met, Anette, Kjersti, Veronica, Anine, Marianne and Astrid, who´s the author of the Home&Cottage blog.

Today I´m actually going to a new event. ( busy girl! *smile* ) House of Oslo is celebrating that they have been open for 5 years, and they will open two more shops: R.O.O.M and Habitat. As part of the celebration they have 20% off on almost everything in the whole mall. Yay!
I will meet some blog friends tonight as well, so I know it´s going to be a great evening with cava and cupcakes. I´ll show you some pictures tomorrow.

The reason that I don´t show you the other walls is that they´re not completely done yet. I have replaced the curtains with a pair of white sheer curtains though, and that did wonders. *smile*

Quite a change right? I guess it looks a bit more masculine now...

{ 1-2-3 - New office with a rough look }

Remember I showed you the working lamp? Well, I´m finally done with my fiancé´s home office and you can now see where the lamp belong...

I´ve papered one of the walls with a supercool concrete wallpaper from Storeys. Don´t you just love it? It was the easiest wallpaper I have ever worked with - it was done in an hour. So don´t even think that you can´t do this yourself!

Some details in black.

It was much harder to decorate a men´s office than my own home office, but we are both happy with the end result.

I´m amazed by all the beautiful decoration you actually can get for free. Yesterday I took a walk in the neighbourhood, and I took home some wonders of the nature that I could decorate my coffee table with.

{ DIY - get organized and make a calendar }

I have for a long time wanted a calender wallsticker, but since it's a little too expensive for my wallet right now, I got the idea of making one myself using chalk paint.

My new calendar

It might seem complicated, but it's really not. I guess it took me about an hour to make this calendar. ( Well, that's only possible if you use a hair dryer to dry the paint. *smile* )
